Attenzione ai falsi aggiornamenti Microsoft

Un nuovo virus si è affacciato sullo scenario della Rete Internet: questa volta il worm si chiama Gibe (classificato dai vari produttori di software antivirus come I-Worm.Gibe, W32/Gibe@mm o WORM_GIBE.A).
La principale peculiarità del virus è quella di mascherarsi sotto forma di aggiornamento Microsoft (Microsoft Security Update).
Il virus worm Gibe, che si autospedisce ai contatti trovati nella rubrica del client di posta, non è distruttivo ma è capace di installare sul personal computer una backdoor in grado di rendere vulnerabile il proprio computer ad accessi non autorizzati dall’esterno.

Il virus Gibe arriva nella casella di posta allegando un file denominato Q216309.exe ed includendo nel corpo del testo della e-mail quanto segue:

Subject: Internet Security Update
Attachment: q216309.exe

Microsoft Customer,

this is the latest version of security update, the update which
eliminates all known security vulnerabilities affecting Internet

vulnerabilities, and is discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin
MS02-005. Install now to protect your computer from these
vulnerabilities, the most serious of which could allow an
attacker to run code on your computer.
