Chrome diventa in grado di gestire i dispositivi Bluetooth, senza l’utilizzo di alcuna app aggiuntiva.
Google ha introdotto la novità in Chrome 53 che, d’ora in avanti, consentirà l’interazione con i dispositivi Bluetooth ai siti web che ne faranno richiesta.

A cosa può servire Web Bluetooth?
Qualunque applicazione web, senza necessitare dell’installazione lato client di un’estensione apposita, potrà controllare i dispositivi Bluetooth posti nelle vicinanze (si pensi alle “luci intelligenti” o ad altri device IoT).

La funzionalità Web Bluetooth è al momento compatibile solo con Android 6.0 e successivi, con Chrome OS e Mac OS X. I tecnici di Google stanno lavorando sulla versione per Windows mentre Web Bluetooth non sbarcherà mai sui device iOS a meno che Apple non decida di integrare la tecnologia nel browser Safari.
Web Bluetooth, poi, supporta esclusivamente Bluetooth Low Energy anche se non è escluso che, nel prossimo futuro, vengano abbracciate anche altre specifiche.
