Dopo aver rilasciato la versione destinata ai sistemi Mac OS X, gli sviluppatori di Launch2net ci riprovano e presentano la versione destinata agli utenti di Ubuntu 8.

Dopo aver rilasciato la versione destinata ai sistemi Mac OS X, gli sviluppatori di Launch2net ci riprovano e presentano la versione destinata agli utenti di Ubuntu 8.10 e 9.04. Il programma consente di utilizzare il proprio cellulare come modem per connettersi ad Internet oppure, in alternativa, viene offerto il supporto per dispositivi USB, ExpressCard o PC datacard.

Launch2net si incarica di rilevare automaticamente il dispositivo mobile connesso al personal computer e configurare la connessione Internet. Per quanto riguarda l’Italia, Launch2net è in grado di interfacciarsi con tutti i principali operatori telefonici visualizzando il tipo di connessione instaurata (HSDPA, 3G UMTS, EDGE o GPRS), la qualità del segnale, il quantitativo di dati scaricati ed inviati in Rete. Dall’interfaccia del programma è anche possibile trasmettere SMS a singoli contatti o ad interi gruppi di persone.

Al momento, la versione beta di Launch2net per Linux sembra riconoscere un limitato numero di dispositivi (ved. questa pagina), nettamente inferiore alla versione destinata a sistemi Mac OS X (ecco l’elenco dell’hardware supportato).
