Microsoft gioca una nuova carta e prova a “spingere” ancora il browser Edge – proposto di default in Windows 10 -. I tecnici della società guidata da Satya Nadella hanno presentato Edge come l’unico browser in grado di riprodurre i contenuti di Netflix a 1080p. I rivali (Chrome, Firefox e Opera) si fermano ad una risoluzione pari a 720p.

Così come riportato da alcuni utenti su Reddit, premendo la combinazione di tasti CTRL+ALT+MAIUSC+D durante la riproduzione di un qualunque contenuto di Netflix, è possibile intervenire direttamente sulla qualità del flusso multimediale e controllare i parametri con cui il video viene riprodotto.

Usando la combinazione di tasti citata, si può verificare che – effettivamente – Edge è per ora l’unico browser a consentire la visualizzazione dell’offerta Netflix a 1080p.

Microsoft ha aggiunto che la collaborazione con la Open Media Alliance sta proseguendo con l’obiettivo di sviluppare la prossima generazione di formati, codec e tecnologie per la gestione e riproduzione di video UltraHD.
