Dopo la “stretta” dei Garanti Privacy europei, Facebook ha deciso di capitolare, almeno per il momento. In nessuna nazione del Vecchio Continente, Facebook utilizzerà più i dati degli utenti ricavati da WhatsApp.

Una prima “sospensione” si era registrata, nei giorni scorsi, in Gran Bretagna (vedere Facebook usa i dati di WhatsApp: primo stop).
Adesso però il social network di Mark Zuckerberg si asterrà dall’utilizzare i dati estratti dai database di WhatsApp per esporre messaggi pubblicitari più pertinenti, per stabilire la rete di relazioni fra gli utenti e per “migliorare il servizio”.

Facebook non userà più i dati di WhatsApp in Europa
Stando a quanto dichiarato da Facebook, comunque, “la pausa” sarà temporanea: giusto il tempo perché si apra il dibattito sul versante normativo.

Ben 28 autorità europee avevano sottoscritto un documento inviato a Facebook evidenziando una serie di criticità legate alla raccolta dei dati di WhatsApp.
A tal proposito, davvero emblematico è il caso di un medico che, dopo la modifica della policy sul trattamento dei dati WhatsApp, è stato informato della segnalazione su Facebook – tra i possibili amici – di pazienti che non si erano mai visti né conosciuti (Numeri di telefono su Facebook e WhatsApp: un caso eclatante).
