Solitamente non è possibile amministrare un server Windows 2000 da una qualunque workstation collegata in Rete.
Per far ciò è possibile applicare un semplice ma efficacissimo trucco.
Portatevi sulla macchina server, quindi accedete alla cartella SYSTEM32 contenuta nella cartella principale di Windows 2000 (generalmente è \WINNT).
Copiate quindi il file adminpak.msi che trovate all’interno della cartella sulla workstation dalla quale desiderate amministrare il server. Fate quindi doppio clic, dalla workstation, sul file adminpak.msi appena copiato in modo da avviarne l’installazione.
Adminpak.msi è detto administration pack e si tratta di un file d’installazione creato secondo le nuove specifiche Microsoft Windows Installer (la nuova tecnologia di installazione introdotta con Windows 2000).
