Toshiba presenta i nuovi SSD XG6 con chip 3D NAND a 96 layer

Toshiba ha sviluppato in collaborazione con Western Digital una nuova gamma di unità SSD, battezzata XG6. La principale novità consiste nell’utilizzo di chip di memoria 3D NAND a 96 livelli di tipo TLC che permettono, grazie all’uso di un nuovo controller, velocità fino a 3.180 MB/s in lettura sequenziale e 2.960 MB/s in scrittura sequenziale. In lettura/scrittura random 4K le prestazioni si attestano su 355.000/365.000 IOPS.

Le unità a stato solido di nuova generazione saranno disponibili solo nel formato M.2 2280 con interfaccia PCIe 3.0 x4 e protocollo NVMe 1.3a: vedere anche Costi e velocità di SSD e hard disk a confronto.

Gli SSD Toshiba XG6 saranno disponibili nei tagli da 256, 512 e 1.024 GB e conserveranno la stessa efficienza energetica dei predecessori XG5 (4,2 W in scrittura; 4,7 W in scrittura).

Le unità SSD appena messe a punto da Toshiba saranno disponibili sia nei modelli dotati di supporto per la crittografia TCG Opal integrata sia nelle versioni sprovviste di tale funzionalità.
