Western Digital ha deciso di rinnovare la linea di hard disk pensati per coloro che utilizzando il sigle-board computer Raspberry Pi (vedere Raspberry Pi: che cos’è e come funziona, Raspberry Pi 3, le novità della nuova scheda e Vendute 10 milioni di Raspberry Pi: arriva il kit).

La linea PiDrive consta adesso di una serie di nuovi modelli, pensati appositamente per soddisfare le esigenze di storage di coloro che usano Raspberry Pi.

Tra le nuove proposte, un hard disk da 250 GB di capienza che costa 29 dollari; uno da 375 GB che verrà commercializzato a 39 dollari e un’unità eMMC basata su 64 GB di memoria NAND che sarà distribuita al costo di 19 dollari.

Tutti i prodotti includono una scheda microSD con l’installatore semplificato NOOBS: l’obiettivo è evidentemente quello di facilitare l’installazione del sistema operativo Raspbian.
Per il resto, i nuovi hard disk PiDrive di Western Digital sfruttano delle porte USB al posto delle SATA per trasportare alimentazione e dati, esattamente come avveniva nei precedenti modelli.
