WhatsApp presto abbraccerà l’autenticazione a due fattori. L’implementazione del popolare client di messaggistica, tuttavia, sarà ben diversa rispetto a quella che molti di noi conoscono.

Com’è noto, infatti, WhatsApp non utilizza particolari sistemi di autenticazione. Per garantire l’accesso ai dati dell’utente, WhatsApp si basa sul numero telefonico mobile.

Il meccanismo di autenticazione a due fattori che presto debutterà in WhatsApp mira a impedire che la SIM possa essere ad esempio trasferita su un altro telefono e un terzo possa accedere alle informazioni altrui.

Dopo 45 giorni consecutivi di mancato utilizzo di WhatsApp, l’applicazione cancella i dati dell’utente in maniera tale che – nel caso in cui il numero telefonico fosse abbandonato dal precedente assegnatario e attribuito ad un altro utente – non si possa recuperare la cronologia delle conversazioni e le immagini appartenute ad altre persone.

L’autenticazione a due fattori di WhatsApp, che sarà attivabile dal menu Impostazioni, Account, consentirà di definire un codice di autorizzazione che dovrà essere inserito ogniqualvolta si tenterà di usare l’app di messaggistica con un nuovo dispositivo mobile.
