Gli sviluppatori potranno da oggi installare ed eseguire le proprie applicazioni sui dispositivi Apple iOS senza versare alcun canone annuale. Sino ad oggi Apple richiedeva una somma pari a 99 dollari annuali per entrare a far parte del Developer Program. L’azienda guidata da Tim Cook da oggi cambia registro e consente a chiunque lo desideri, di eseguire il proprio codice su iPhone ed iPad. Le applicazioni sviluppate con Xcode 7 potranno essere provate gratuitamente sui dispositivi della Mela, senza versare alcunché. Il programmatore potrà quindi rilasciare le sue app all’infuori dell’App Store, a patto che siano distribuite sotto forma di progetti opensource. L’approccio è simile a quello utilizzato da Google con Android: le applicazioni non provenienti da Google Play possono essere comunque installate abilitando le cosiddette Origini sconosciute nella sezione Sicurezza delle impostazioni del sistema operativo.

Xcode 7: Apple consente di provare le app a costo zero

La soluzione di Apple è simile, seppur un po´ più complicata: è infatti necessario un collegamento fisico ed un sistema Mac sul quale vengano prodotte le app ricorrendo ad Xcode. Anche l’utente finale, comunque, potrebbe – almeno in linea teorica – prelevare il codice sorgente dell’applicazione e compilarlo in locale ricorrendo ad Xcode. In questo modo l’applicazione potrà poi essere installata ed usata sull’iPhone o sull’iPad. Gli emulatori sono esempi di applicazioni che non possono essere pubblicati sullo store di Apple ma che potranno essere installati col nuovo metodo proprio a partire dai loro sorgenti.
